Cessna 206 - Tiweano Equador

I came across this video of a jungle landing and just had to share it. Unfortunately the quality isn't really good. Is that a dog on the runway or a trick of the light?

I think it was a dog. Better a dog than a deer (or in the jungle, something bigger like a buffalo!)

I'd guess a bush. It doesn't seem to move at all, one way or another. I see wild turkeys from the helicopter all the time, then realize they are just bushes with the sun shining on them in such a way that with their shadows they look like a flock of hens.
The 206 is a hoss. Love the sound of that engine!

Hello,

I was actually the fortunate guy who had the privilege of filming this video. I wanted to clear up the question about the dog . . . the runway was actually clear, so it must have been an illusion.

Sorry about the poor quality via YouTube. The raw video is actually in 1080i. I could arrange for you to download it in HD, if it would interest you.

I can be reached through our blog over at: http://robertandjennifer.blogspot.com/

It looks like we might have some common interests outside of aviation. I'm an IT guy, too . . . thought I can't say that I share your love of open source. I run a Micro$oft shop. :)

Tailwinds,
Robert

Hello Robert,

Thanks for your comment, and the video. I thought it was an illusion but sometimes those are as interesting as the video, which in this case is quite striking. As an IT guy I know that you can't be held responsible for the quality that YouTube provides, thanks for the offer of the full quality image but I imagine it is quite large.

It takes all kinds, at the risk of being band from Slash Dot, I will just say that Bill didn't get to be that rich by selling software nobody wanted ;)

Happy landings.
